On Labor Day, We Remember Our Past and Look Toward a Bright, Inclusive Future

Our union’s 134-year history is deeply connected to the tradition and celebration of Labor Day. It was a Machinist who founded Labor Day all the way back in 1882.

Since then, we’ve gotten stronger, larger and bolder with every passing year. Our members make the world move through the air and on the ground. The military equipment produced by IAM members helps our brave service men and women complete their missions around the world. It is IAM members who put a man on the Moon and continue to help us explore and better understand the universe.
